KEITH POGUE
Drum Bio
The early years
Keith first got the drum bug at the age of 13 and like most “kit drummers” of that era made for many years the weekly pilgrimage to study with one of Ireland’s premier jazz drummer’s John Wadham in Dalkey, Co. Dublin.
Over many years as a Player he has been involved with various bands which gave him the opportunity to play in pop, rock, blues and Jazz. Musicals, Christian music. Events and weddings, covers and originals as well as recording sessions, live radio and television, festivals as well as last minute “subbing” with no rehearsal, 1 2 3 4 and you’re in!
Teaching
Keith started teaching drums 2011 and is now spreading the beat in a number of schools in Co Wicklow.
“I’m really enjoying teaching and find it very rewarding. Watching students learn to read, develop technique and playing along to various styles of music as well as being able to talk about drums all day, surely what could be better. ”
Like all musicians, Keith is still learning and discovering new styles, attending drum building courses and attending clinics and workshops both in Ireland and the UK.
